Visitors can book a walking tour of the area to view these animals and their natural habitat. Loggerhead Sea Turtles are an endangered species that typically nest along the beaches of the island. They are very large and can weigh as much as two hundred pounds. These creatures move around at night making them difficult to be seen. When visitors do get lucky enough to view the turtles laying their eggs, the local wildlife department asks that the location be reported for species preservation. Many local resorts provide a great view of Bottlenose Dolphins. Protected wetlands offer amazing bird watching opportunities.
