Touring Hilton Head Island on a bike is a family favorite activity on Hilton Head Island. There are 55 miles of island pathways which lend to many opportunities to view the island up-close and personal. Hilton Head became the only community in South Carolina and one of five in the Southeast to receive a Silver Level Award from the League of American Bicyclists, earning it certification as a Bicycle Friendly Community. There are only thirty-two communities nationwide that have the silver designation.
Please obey all the traffic signals and pathway markings for your safety while bicycling on the beautiful island. Bicycles here on the island are vehicles and must obey the South Carolina traffic laws, travel the pathways at speeds that promote safety of pedistrians and other bicyclist. Never ride with the roadway against traffic, ride single file and keep a safe distance from other bicyclists, and please watch out for motorist. When passing a walker, jogger or another bicyclist please always pass on the left and announce verbally that you are “passing on the left” this is a couteousey and this will add to an enjoyable and safe ride.
Bike Doctor Rentals
The Bike Doctor offers a wide variety of bikes, includes free delivery, child seats, locks, and baskets that attach to the bike. In addition to beach style bikes, the Bike Doctor carries road bikes, and hosts local group rides for seasoned riders.
